This is a newly created position due to an internal promotion, offering the successful candidate significant long-term career progression opportunities.

About the Role
This role will see you apply your legal knowledge and liability expertise in an underwriting environment, managing a portfolio of complex Casualty claims with a particular focus on Construction Liability.

We are interested in speaking with lawyers who have a strong interest in insurance, liability and claims and are looking to take their career in a different direction.

Salary Range

$110,000 – $140,000 + Super, based on experience

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

· Managing Casualty claims from initial notification through to resolution, with a strong focus on Construction Liability, including personal injury and product liability
· Investigating claims, interpreting policy coverage, assessing liability and negotiating settlements
· Working closely with Solicitors, Loss Adjusters, Brokers, Underwriters and other key stakeholders
· Providing technical advice and claims insights to Underwriters to support sound underwriting decisions
· Building strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders
· Contributing to a high-performing, collaborative claims and underwriting environment

Key Skills & Experience

You will ideally have:

· A Bachelor of Law degree with 2-3 years’ experience managing Casualty/Liability claims, including Personal Injury or Property Damage
· Experience in defendant insurance litigation or liability matters, with lawyers looking to transition into an in-house insurance role strongly encouraged to apply
· A completed Diploma in Legal Practice will be highly regarded
· Strong understanding of liability, coverage and claims principles
· A commercially minded approach with the ability to assess complex issues and make sound decisions
