The role is to Manage, lead, guide, mentor a fantastic team of 8 Underwriters within the (sme) Financial Lines space.
The leadership piece takes precedent over your technical knowledge, you must be a leader who has an open door policy, who encourages conversation and ideas, who encourages careers not jobs, but one who can also say no, and fully explain reasons behind this. A leader who leads by example not through delegation of tasks and duties.
In addition your focus will be driving the growth through education of products to the independent broker market, through working on strengthening new & existing relationships, and clearly demonstrating the ability to write good business including having an exemplary turnaround time from receiving slip to providing a quote.
Duties will include:
Driving ( & executing of )the Underwriting strategy
Assist in the development and management of setting and implementing national team and product targets
Underwrite and quote within designated underwriting authority
Provide high levels of service and broker relationship management skills
Work with Regional Managers and underwriting teams to meet and exceed set financial performance targets
Reporting directly to the MD & Deputy CEO
Previous experience in a people management role
Demonstrated sales ability and strong contacts within the Broker market
Literacy in technology and systems, in particular word processing and spreadsheet packages
A strong background in Underwriting, ideally with exposure to the Financial Lines space
